I want to connect to the internet with my firewall in tact but currently the only way i can get on is by turing the firewall off.how can i fix this problem?
the firewall could be set to block all internet traffic.
go to the firewall settings and disable it or change it to allow internet traffic.
bet you got sky boardband ! does it to my comp to !
Norton Internet Security has what is called trust control. This blocks certain programs from accessing your computer or internet. Open up the norton program and open a page called "trust control" (click firewall, then configure and it is a tab on the left side.) Now, once in Program Trust Control, add your browser to the list of trusted programs. if you use a router, find out the ip address of the router and add that to the trusted ip's list. Hope this helps.
Configure your firewall do not switch it off never.Norton switches windows firewall off so if you switch Norton off you will not have any.
I don't know all ur particulars but if ur useing nortons firewall make sure ur windows firewall is off. Two firewalls spell trouble and are in- compatable when down loading anything off the internet. Once ur connected to the internet leave it connected and don't turn anything off but ur pc. There's no reason to disconnct from ur connection. When u turn ur pc on windows will recgonize it and make the connect. never mind the above if useing dialup.
Configure your firewall settings.
Norton , bless its little cotton socks is renowned for things like that. ( And you are paying for the privilege).
See the light and scrap it. Download Avast Anti-Virus and Zone Alarm firewall.
Both are free downloads ( and for the last couple of years I've yet to encounter any problems ).
p.s. with Avast you register the download with them, then they send you an activation code to start it. ( again free gratis, so don't worry about any annual subscriptions. after the year they notify you it is expiring. Simply follow the steps to re-register.)
Best wishes.
Dave.
You should be able to configure the Norton firewall to give you Internet access. But if you have Windows XP with Service Pack 2 installed or Windows Vista I honestly believe that the Norton firewall is more trouble than it is worth to the vast majority of users. The Windows firewall gives you all the protection you need. so your easiest fix is to leave the Norton firewall turned off and just make sure that the Windows firewall is turned on.
Why do I have to turn off my norton internet security firewall in order to connect to the internet?
