The ideal thing to do is to get a distributation of linux so you do not have to worry about software and security issues, but in the case you are still wanting windows, use avg pro, and use the firewall included in the pro package, not trying to sound like you need to dump money into software, it is better to package it so it can communicate with the antivirus, and if you are looking for a free solution, avg free and zone alarm are good, also get a hardwired firewall (its not too expensive, is included withmost routers now) and if you have a router and its wireless, secure it and cloak it.
