When hooked directly to my PC i get about 16Mbs connection on speed test sites but as soon as I plug in my Firewall I can only download at 5Mbs in my house. this is a highend Firewall for home use and all the logs have come back perfect when going through them with SonicWall tech support. I have Enhanced OS on the Sonicwall and Everything looks configured correctly. I have configured about 50 of these for my job and never had this issue but have never connected to such a fast Internet provider. So I am pretty confident it is setup correctly - I have tried several firmware versions and get the same results. the unit has already been swapped out and get the same results as with another computer, same results. SonicWall has esculated the ticket to senior support but was hoping someone here had the answer as this has been an ongoing issue for too long.Iphone sonicwall slow. Sonicwall slowing connection.

Firewalls slow down your connection because they have to look at every single thing going through them and process it (whether it's supposed to get through or not). Since that has to happen, the total speed at which you can download is limited to your CPU's speed. I'm not sure if I can see a dual-core keeping up with a firewall and 16Mbps connection, buy maybe a quad-core.
