Extreme Networks and security solutions outfit Sourcefire have announced a partnership agreement. The two vendors will work together through Extreme’s purple partner programme to provide dynamic, automated, secure network infrastructure. The two companies reckon they can offer a winning combination of switching and intrusion detection, resulting in real-time security awareness and response to threats and vulnerabilities.
Sourcefire delivers intrusion prevention solutions that can integrate with Extreme’s BlackDiamond and Summit switching families. as part of jointly carried-out product testing between the companies, the Sourcefire solution passed event information directly to Extreme Networks Ethernet switches, allowing the combined system to detect, respond to, and mitigate threats dynamically and automatically while maintaining services across the network.
The benefit of the combined solution is that network administrators can eliminate threats in real time and keep a detailed view of events occurring with users, devices and services across the network.
“We are working with Extreme Networks due to its commitment to leading edge network infrastructure that supports a deeper approach to security,” said Allen Male, VP strategic accounts at Sourcefire.
“The go Purple programme helps customers extend their choices to Sourcefire in locking down their networks. we have already integrated our IPS capabilities with Extreme Networks product line to help common customers meet their needs for a secure and robust network.”
Aziz Ala’ali, regional director for Extreme Networks Middle East and Africa, added: “Extreme Networks and Sourcefire serve organisations who want to take back control of their networks with security solutions that offer intelligence and visibility. Sourcefire intrusion prevention system and real time network awareness tools make for a best-in-class security portfolio.”
