the organization I work for is now monitoring all network traffic. they say its to scan for inappropriate/offensive material, but it may really be to monitor employee productivity.
Can using an SSH tunnel or subscribing to a monthly http tunnel service make my surfing undetectable, anonymous or unnoticed? There is a lot of down time at the office between projects, and I don't want writing personal emails, checking facebook, craigslist, yahoo finance articles and even job postings to be noticed by the network monitoring software.
I'm a low-bandwidth user...I'm never downloading high-bandwidth videos, youtube, movies, games or music.
Is this a viable solution for low-bandwidth traffic, or will the network monitoring software still notice this?
My other alternative is to surf on my cellphone (and we all know that gets old after 10 minutes).
Can SSH/HTTP Tunnels protect from corporate network monitoring services?
