I just wanted to pass this along. Our Spam Firewall 300 was due for renewal. since we have a VM initiative going, I wanted to see about switching our 300 over to Virtual. after looking around and even demoing some competitors products, I found out that Barracuda has released a VMWare version of the Spam Firewall.

The cost is $1000 plus a fee for the number of users. 100 users is only $180 per year. And guess what, next year when I renew it is only $180 !!!! WOW! much cheaper than the old pricing model. I was paying $950 per year for my 300, that was for the subscription and hardware coverage.
Also the VM version does not have limitations like the 300 had, it has all of the features of the higher end boxes,
I asked them why so cheap and they said that hardware support is expensive, since no hardware for them to support they can sell the VM version at a much cheaper rate.
I paid $1180 this year, but it will be only $180 per year renewal, and best of all it is virtual.
Switching over was easy too, I just made sure that my 300 and VM were on the same firmware, backed up my settings and database on the 300, then restored them on the VM. Up and running in just a short time.
